There is a microwave downstairs from where I work.  Some researcher has taped a sign on it that reads:


I love scientists.

Also, I read the Wikipedia article on kurtosis today (it’s pretty boring, I just put the link here so you can fact check me), and it includes what may be the single most pedantic and self-aggrandizing sentence I’ve ever seen:

“The far red light has no effect on the average speed of the gravitropic reaction in wheat coleoptiles, but it changes kurtosis from platykurtic to leptokurtic”

I love-hate the internet.

  1. That’s actually a safety standard observed in most labs.

    Clearly you don’t often work in labs with noxious chemicals.
    And clearly I do….

    Is there a Simple English version?
